Noel Dusan Eye Clinic |
In January of 2012, HAM opened the the Noel Dusan Eye Clinic, located in the Centre
de Santé Communautaire de Dumay. Noel Dusan, pictured right, Past
District Governor of District 13K of Lions Club International, was instrumental in
helping Dr. Janine Flood to first bring eye care to the Dumay community in
Haiti. Through Noel’s efforts, HAM received a major grant from Lions Club
International in 2003 supporting the eye care program overseen by Dr. Flood.
To
honor Noel, who passed away in 2011, HAM has named the new vision care program and facility, the Noel Dusan Eye Clinic. The clinic is
located within HAM’s Dumay
clinic and will initially operate one week per month. The clinic will
offer
complete eye exams, glaucoma and cataract treatment, eye infection
treatment,
and eyeglasses. Eyeglasses are supplied through Lions Club donations.
An anonymous
leadership donation of $4,000 was matched by other individual contributions to initially fund the equipping and opening of the Noel Dusan Eye Clinic. However, ongoing costs for staffing, supplies and additional equipment exist, requiring additional current and future funding to ensure the viability of this important program. If you would like to make a gift to further Noel's dream of providing eye care to a
population that otherwise would not receive care, please visit our support page for
instructions. Please note on your check or PayPal payment that your donation is
for the Noel Dusan Eye Clinic.
